Parliament cleared the ‘Bills of Lading, 2025,’ bill on Tuesday (July 22, 2025), with the Rajya Sabha giving its nod to legislation aimed at modernising and simplifying India’s maritime documentation framework.
Notably, the Lok Sabha had passed the bill earlier in March, paving the way for replacing the 169-year-old Indian Bills of Lading Act, 1856.
